Stenka Razin - Russian bandit Russian folk song

˸õà ×ûêàíîñ
This is a famous Russian bandit
Sten’ka Razin and his guys.
They are sailing down the Volga
Often cursing Jesus Christ.

Sten’ka Razin has just married
The young princess of Bagdad.
He is happy with his new wife,
He is drunk and very glad.

But his mates aren’t satisfied
With this marriage and so on.
They say: “Our leader is a betrayer!
Let us kill him, well, come on!”

Sten’ka Razin hears this warnings
And he decides to make such trick –
He puts his arms round the girl’s waist
And after that begins to speak:

“Volga, Volga, mother Volga!
I’ve never pleased you, it isn’t fine.
Wouldn’t you be now so kind
To accept this gift of mine?”

Sten’ka Razin says it loudly
Grabbing the princess by her hip,
And he throws this young and smart girl
Into the river wild and deep.

“Why are you, brothers, now in sorrow?
Let’s make a party, let’s sing a song!
The song about that pretty lady,
That pretty lady, who has all gone.”

This is the coolest Russian bandit
Sten’ka Razin and his guys.
They are sailing down the Volga
Often cursing Jesus Christ.
