You were so friendly

Àíäðåé Áåëë
You were so friendly.
“A voice from the past,”
you said cheerfully.

That was the last
Thing I expected to hear
From you, to be called a “Past.”

I thought I was still a Present
I didn’t know I would be cast
Aside.  Yes, I resented

Your friendliness.  So fast
You dumped me.
It was a blast.

Of cold air
That “froze my ass” –
Is that what you call “despair”?

But my despair will pass
Along with love and other trinkets
Yes, it will pass, like gas.

I will arise, like Freon,
Till I stop ànd survey you
From the top.

Of other wreckage
Of my past.
Alas.
