A Lonely Midnight Rider

Сергей Соколов
I’m just a lonely midnight rider
from the City of Light
to the City of Dark.
Although the moon is shining brighter,
I’m loosing sight
of my love and my luck.

I’m rushing through the empty prairie.
I’m tearing away
through the valleys and hills.
I’m all alone and my heart is weary
in the race in hard rain
through the forests and fields.

Lord, my heart is just a lonely rider
from the City of Love
to the City of Blue.
My honey told me I was an outsider
like an eagle in the sky
or an ocean free mew.

I had a choice ‘tween love and my freedom.
So, I took a big chance
and I left my rich home.
I’m sure my soul has it’s own wisdom,
though they say it’s no sense.
So, I’m always alone.
