We got the message, heard the warning:
It is official – global warming
Is looming, and no truth or dare
Will ever get you to prepare,
But vigilant and able eyes
Should help you spot the early signs.
With this agenda on my mind
I set myself to look and find
The harbingers of melting Greenland
Like early spring in damp New England.
So armed with beach and picnic gear
And hoping the spring is near
I kept on shoveling the snow
Well into April (What'd you know?)
Cold rains in May and nippy June
Have added to the sense of doom
That come vacation – or how cruel –
I won’t be sunning at the pool!
Who needs a pool when every lawn
Springs a rice patty where prawns
Can freely breed while we still pray
For scorching summer night and day.
We got the message, heard the warning...
Can't wait to see some global warming.
