The night is falling all around you
Settling softly like a shawl
You search the purple sky for stars
With your back against the wall
And through that wall you hear music
That filters through the ragged stone
And makes your heart skip beats and stutter
Shaking you to very bone
It grips your soul so tight but tender
You feel like you can’t move at all
And raise your eyes and see the stars
That shine and wink at you, and fall
You watch them go, so free and gracious
And fragile like a porcelain doll
You wonder what it’d really feel like
And make a wish to feel it all
The wind then tangles in your traces
And seconds slow down to a crawl
The clouds seem to wrap around you
Like you are standing six feet tall
You listen to the nameless genius
That rang unknowingly a wake-up call
For an anonymous admirer
With their back against the wall
