Для оказанья дружеских услуг:
Когда печаль берет мой взгляд в полон
Иль сердце грустью задохнется вдруг.
Тогда глаза, смотря на твой портрет,
Устраивают живописный пир;
А иногда у взгляда пищи нет,
И сердце дарит мыслей элексир.
Так, твоему холсту благодаря
Или моей любви, но эти дни
Не дальше дум ты будешь от меня:
Я существую в них, с тобой – они.
А если спят, – хранит твой образ взгляд,
И сердце разбудить любовью рад.

Betwixt mine eye and heart a league is took,
And each doth good turns now unto the other:
When that mine eye is famished for a look,

With my love’s picture then my eye doth feast,
And to the painted banquet bids my heart;
