Once there lived Odessa’s skipper,
‘Knew every fish and every wind,
And all around PERESSYP whispered:
His name was Kostya nicknamed “King”!
He was top judge for all RAZBORKAs,
He was a nice and honest pal.
In pubs he ordered two- three VODKAs,
GEFILTE-FISH and fish KEFAL.

Refrain:
I would never tell you, how I need you.
My Odessa-city is so CHARMANT!
Everybody knew a fine love story,
As had famous Kostya from FONTAN!

It was one lovely April evening,
Fish-lady Sonya was so nice...
At once our Kostya got the meaning,
That has conveyed blue Sonya’s eyes...
- I bet a lot of men be proud
To offer you a wedding ring,-
Said Kostya, and… then turned around
As he was MOLDAVANKA’s king.

Refrain

Once took ashore his BARKAS boat,
He used to be a top success,
He recognizes – in HIS raincoat
She’d look exactly like prin’cess!
Next day two miracles have happened,
Burst into blossom FRENCH BOULEVARD,
And everywhere people whispered,
That Sonya got king Kostya’s heart!

Refrain
