Тихо паромщик позвал,
Владыка умерших и скорбной реки
До берега путь свой держал.
Мы по волнам – и вверх, и вниз –
Проходим чрез Врата Теней,
Златом его глаз горит.
Все сожжены мосты – и нет назад пути.
Ты плыви, ладья Харона,
В край далекий унеси.
Путь, начертанный Богами,
До конца должен пройти.
Опутано его лицо в объятьях смерти ледяной.
«Тебя переправлю к равнинам печали,
Но есть за проезд мой цена,
Беззвездное небо – над теми краями,
Из пламени да изо льда».
Мы по волнам – и вверх, и вниз,
Хоть слово промолви: возврата же нет
На истинный берег земли.
Все сожжены мосты – и нет назад пути.
Ты плыви, ладья Харона,

Путь, начертанный Богами,
