The apple is the finest fruit,
A source of inspiration,
For due to it was understood
The Law of Gravitation.
But did the worthy sir expect
A single fruit to lead
His thought to an important act?
(I don't know if he did.)
What would the world be like today
If there were more such trees
Or heavy objects making way
To such great heads as his?..
I dedicate these silly words
To an absurd alliance
Of rhymes and numbers, laws and verse -
Of Poetry and Science.
