The Vikings Lore

Алексей Чепок
(own interpretation of Scandinavian ancient stanzas)

Kindred die,
Cattle die,
Every One is mortal.
But Good man
Shall
Never die
For a deed immortal.

The original is below. I heard that being cited 12 Jun 1998 on the BBC program dedicated to the influence of Norsemen on Britain. So I made a bit distorted record of the verse and referred to my version numerously when discussed culture of North European people.

Cattle die, kindred die,
Every man is mortal:
But the good name never dies
Of one who has done well
Havamal 76

Cattle die, kindred die,
Every man is mortal:
But I know one thing that never dies,
The glory of the great dead
Havamal 77
