Jeb s Collection The Night Club

Рамиро Лебедев-Толмач
John started dating in his early teens, but never could get anything worked out successfully with his girl friends. He was so unpredictable that inevitably girls wanted to end the relationship quickly after it began.  Somehow or another, John was always able to find a way to blame the problems on the girls. He never seemed to consider that might be him.
As he got older, John liked to frequent dance clubs. He usually tried to go in a group so that he could get some wimp to pay for him. If he didn’t have a group, he usually tried sneaking in the back way. Once he found a bouncer waiting for him. They got into a tussle, the bouncer got the short end of the stick and sported a game leg for two weeks. John walked away with only a black eye.
At this particular club, the cover charge had been steep because they had a famous DJ from the city and after him there was going to be a live band. The DJ was pretty good and always found someone on the dance floor to make fun of.
But John was beginning to despair. It seemed as if all the girls had dates because everyone he asked said she was waiting for someone. He thought ‘maybe it’s the black eye’.
Finally, to his surprise, a girl with brown hair asked him to dance. He knew that he’d seen her before, but he couldn’t place her. Then it hit him, she was the younger sister of the toughest guy in the neighbourhood, Arnold Eastwood.
That must have been why no one was dancing with her. John said to himself ‘I wonder if Arnie’s going to show up?’ And of course, he did appear, with his two buddies Simon and AJ. Many years before, Arnie named his fists. His left fist was AJ and his right fist was Simon.
John and Arnie had never had problems before because John usually kept to himself, but Arnie was overprotective of his sister and didn’t like people getting too close to her. So John readied himself to face the music…
The next afternoon Arnie was no longer the toughest guy in the neighbourhood, and John and Jane started a relationship that everyone envied at school.
