I carry Jesus Christ inside my heart
and gratitude to Him without measures.
And who can set me from my God apart?
His name for me a gem above all treasures.
The Holy Spirit, given as a sword
and as my breath, would not permit this tarnish,
for what am I without you, my Lord?
A mere mist, a breath that soon will vanish.
But you alone can absorb my shame
and you alone carry all my crosses,
I can’t renounce you, because Your holy name
is worth far more than all my earthly losses.
