About purity

Альбина Кумирова
Having been poor is no shame, but being ashamed of it, is.
                Benjamin Franklin
“The ‘frankness’ of people sunk below shame is a very cheap frankness.”
                C. S. Lewis

The media bombards us daily,
promoting a glamour style,
our feelings and our thoughts assailing
with fashions dubious and vile.

They are of prostitution smelling.
The way you look affects your heart,
and what you wear can be telling,
if you are gullible or smart.

How often youngsters act from fear,
they want with crowds to fit in
by wishing trendy to appear
to famous and rich akin.

How often they lack discretion
young divas crazy and madcap.
They think it is a self-expression,
yet not aware of the trap.

A fashion can your mind mould,
but if your heart belongs to God,
you would Christ's pure image hold,
not frightened to appear odd.

For when the Lord had you selected
from crowds to become His light,
He since that day from you expected
to flee from wrong and do what's right.

He is the ultimate example
of chastity, of love and grace,
and you would on His image trample,
if worldly trends your thoughts embrace.

Keep all your heart and mind pure,
in purity your body keep!
It's no shame to be poor,
but it's a shame to be cheap.
