Space Odyssey

Никита Сверчков
I used to roam the stars alone
By tearing my way through black sorrows,
Strode solar winds by seeking home,
Abandoned planets and tomorrows

I wished for constellation’s sign
And called upon a thousand novas
That burst, defying me to align
I lost both satellites and foes

And then, within the cosmic mist
I came across a living being
Who ruled his realm with iron fist
The galaxy to oversee, and

His eyes exuded freezing warmth
And led to other worlds he dreamt of
He knew about gain and loss
Of things that should and not be let off

A singularity of storms
Encircling the brightest tempest
I saw that moment: that was home
The ultimate farewelling lament

It wasn’t easy, space was thick
It took some cutting through the denses
Encounters, partings, quarrels, tricks
Building and leveling some fences

But it was worth it in the end
A gift of friendship, otherworldly
An interstellar kind of mend
A hearth that’s tended over, fondly

Infinity of blast-like thoughts
A war - a victory, forever
The knowledge ‘bout faults and costs
Serenity by forge and sever

So, here we are, two godlike beings
Who make their way through lonesome cosmos
Who learnt to bond, to see and feel,
Creating worlds, destined to blossom
