Sharing thoughts and feelings

Альбина Кумирова
Not in our power to foretell
what response our words will meet.
                Fellow feeling, heaven’s grace –
                mysteries we can’t predict.
                Fyodor Tyutchev

By getting inspiration from whatever
comes to the mind or to the eyesight,
a poet doesn’t consciously endeavour
the hearts of other people to ignite.

What poets inadvertently disclose -
love, worries, giggles, or concern for crimes,
would other souls welcome it, who knows,
the inner realm that’s hidden in the rhymes?

What’s written – it’s a mystery of soul,
one world among so many other worlds,
designed to awake us or console,
revealed through streaming from inside words.

Yes, poetry is always a letter -
to self, to God, or others (who would know?)
but would it make oneself or others better?
And would it heal a soul, and help it grow?

Whatever is in us can prompt to share
despair, hope, joy, or moments sad,
yet, may not seek the readers to be fair,
but journeying within like a nomad.

Not interaction of some business dealings,
attempting strange audience to please,-
by sharing deep thoughts and secret feelings,
a poet seeks his life to release.
