In dire circumstances

“In all this you greatly rejoice, though now
for a little while you may have had to suffer grief
in all kinds of trials. These have come so that
the proven genuineness of your faith — of greater worth
than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire —
may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ
                is revealed.” 1 Peter 1:6,7

In dire circumstances when the Lord
seemed far from me, His purposes looked dim,
yet, promises, pronounced in His Word,
were guiding steps of mine back to Him.

He was with me in a heartbreaking trial,
where many would have left Him in my place.
I had to with my hardship reconcile,
and in the midst of it God gave me grace.

He gave me peace and knowledge within
that I am His, no matter what occurs.
He lifted up my spirit and my chin
to face what appeared like a curse.

When happiness distinctly was remote,
I have accepted all that God had sent,
and Joseph’s story kept my heart afloat
by brutal circumstances never bent.

When I Christ’s name in my heart revere
and hold on to Him no matter what,
He is providing strength to persevere
and thus, diffusing any evil plot.

The Lord is there when we cry at night,
the Lord is there, when the world is cruel.
When in the soul’s shell God sheds His light,
it then produces pleasing Him a jewel.

A pearl appears in the soul’s depth,
it’s dissipating any evil ploy.
Despite grief that’s able to destroy,
God shines in the shadow of death.
