I m only an observer of this world

Арсений Коваленко
I'm only an observer of this world,
a grumpy client in a cosmic shop:
I came to look, there's nothing I would buy
and merchandisers may relax aside

the only one I will talk to is God
but he is partly scattered everywhere
absorbed in soils and skies
there is so much of God

I'm in this world to gaze, to peep for fun
and get surprised on random rare occasions;
considering decisions, let's do this:
make them instead of me
make me instead of me

because, of course, I can't escape from here
from this rib cage, this tower of a throat
my heart is somewhat like a butcher's grinder
it minces any feeling into fractures

grief into beef,
joy into soy,
meatballs from what is false
I serve the Universe a new free-verse
bon appetit, I hope it's cooked enough

I'm in this world to smoke a cigarette,
to have a pleasure in this whirlpool
or wildly scratch the soul
so that
you see
the sparks

I'm in the show without a certain role
I'm here to stand a bit, dressed like a tree
to look upon
the dimples on the busy laughing cheeks,
the lawful husbands and their sinful wives

hello, excuse me, what I haven't known
is that you're thirty two
oh no it's not a problem
I'm staring from the flank, you may go on

so many ladies slurred deep down my mind
to form an iceberg of sweet lips and hair
I look at them
and feel completely fed
and fall asleep to watch the films of dreams

on the back side of my homeland
I've seen some foolish mad men, and
some eager ones with ragged faces
but also ones whose glance embraces

I tune myself to half the saturation
just to observe
I wish the view was great
