Chrysanthemums

Полина Ерохина
Yellow chrysanthemums were given to me
With flourishing beauty, pinch of plea
They were to stir up the frivolous spree
Though lacked sincerity, grown to be wee

I placed them in the sham and improper vase,
Their golden petals didn’t brighten my day
And as time passed, they began to decay
Their beauty faded and did not catch the gaze

I watched as the petals wilted and fell
Their fragrance withered, a bittersweet farewell
I knew their time was coming to an end
But memories alas would not be mend.

I tried to hold onto their fleeting charm
But they slipped away like sand through my palm
Their vibrancy turned into a somber hue
A reminder that all things bid adieu

And so I bid farewell to my teeny sun
Its imperceptible presence now gone numb
But in its fading beauty, I found a lesson
To cherish each moment, for life is a blessing.
