. Basic investment rules:
. Rule 1: Invest for the long term.
. Rule 2: In the long term, we're all dead.

I need no shrink to see my planet shrinking,
Horizons moving close to box me in
An envelope of limited ambitions,
Where equities are traded for fixed income,
And where 'upside' and 'downside' assume
A rather personal and spiritual meaning,
Where all accounts truly are offshore,
Where there's no auditor to cook
Your books to suit the flavor of the month,
And where 'perpetuity' forever
Defines the length or shortness of positions
You take with the Authority. Indeed,
It's payment time. The bills are coming due.
