Goodbye Bill

Athena
Rain needles jump on silver tar,
dandelions bend their heads and look on jealous.
Wet grass pillows, noise of cars,
cooling droplets fill the mouths of flowers.

Dotted, dashed the sky, the air, the earth.
Wetted, mixed the paints of mind's colors.
Stunned spring sings a psalm and not a dirge
for a spry man with a cigar.
                His two dogs howl.
