Sunrise

Athena
Books, paintings, presents in a darkened room.
Their stories – shut. Each vying for eye comfort.
Blue, open eyes; eyes drinking of the sunset
Reflecting Prague dissolving into gloom.

Light fades. In the unknown stands an “i”
Projecting light and shadows on the darkened sky
I wish you’d hear this sky’s soliloquy,
Instead of living unfulfilled, one tiring lie.

A step. A balcony. A pathway to the sun?
If I could catch its ray to string my lyre
To touch, like singing of the thornbird on the briar
Yet, to create a hope for the land of none.

I know the Night in city’s sleepy eyes -
Yet peace within, delivers a sunrise.
