Stranger

Now slackness and indifference invade us.
You see a face at bottom of the glass.
I see a man with cold iron eyes.
They`re hiding lies.

Heavy smoke and miracle involve us.
You see some people getting off the bus.
I see a man who takes a cup of tea.
He’s watching me.

Impulsive heat of wine inveigle us.
You see some doves not caring a cuss.
I see a man who swears black is white.
But that’s all right.

Lights diminish up around us.
You see some traffic points on the pass.
I see a man behind old piers.
He disappears.

We believe the world is complicated.
You see some lovely girls well-educated.
I can see no reason to get through –
Is that untrue?
