Stranger

Àíäðåé Ñòðàííèêñ
To meet your love, just don’t stop searching.
And what you have, you have to keep.
Don’t miss your luck, but do approach it,
Don’t hide your feeling, if it’s deep…

It was a usual summer evening,
And I was walking through a park,
Supposing that the joy of living
Was gone like whispers in that dark…

When all at once I saw a stranger –
A pretty girl was passing by.
My heart was beating like in danger:
So strong and fast, so sweet and high…

Her eyes were kind with shade of sadness,
Her features – tender, delicate.
I hardly kept myself from madness,
From crying “Stranger, wait, please, wait!..”

Do you remember, pretty stranger,
The time you used to spend with me?
How I behaved sometimes so stagy
And tried to win your sympathy…

I tried to hide my strong emotion,
But when I simply touched your hands –
I sank in love, as deep as ocean,
Disguising it… That made no sense…

I locked my heart – it was so silly!
The strongest passion doesn’t die.
You soon perceived my burning feeling,
You asked for truth – I told you lie…

But now I feel – love should be clear.
Well, now I know – it was my fate.
And now I see – you were so near.
But this I’ve learned, my God, too late…

Oh, Time, I beg you, please have mercy!
Unlock the past, don’t hide the key!
My wasted life – that’s what I’m cursing.
I know, you have forgotten me…

And this confusion ‘s not to cover,
This park is not the place to pray.
And so, we’re passing by each other
The Strangers – nothing more to say…
