over the snow
pink blossoms under the moon
as if nothing’s wrong
the failed heart
beats strong and steady
the way a squirrel
jumps in and out
of the grass
your presence
in my day
a maple leaf
curls colors of the fall
into a shadow
the heart of hearts
has no hope to cling
breathing in
the mist leaving lips
breathing out
the love of no return
into the winter light
the lid
of the teapot you gave me
is broken in two
at times the fit is seamless
at other times it’s not
