Небрежно кепи натянув
На черные кудряшки,
Бросаешь в небо
Искристый снег
И смех
Стуится по лицу
В глазах сверкая.
По улице вниз
Тащит совок,
Уставший старик,
Охая и причитая
О боли в продутой спине
И чудо случится, если когда нибудь
Он закончит работу.

Girl Shovelling Snow
In her scarlet jacket,
her matching cap jauntily perched
over black curls,
gaily she tosses high in the air
the snow,
laughing as it trickles
down her face
while her eyes reflect
the sparkle of the snow.
Down the avenue
the old man wearily lifts
the shovel.
He groans and stops
to ease his aching back,
and wonders sadly if he will ever
finish the job.
