The stars
by Vladimir Vysotsky

This battle's hard to forget in the years,
Death is around in air,
The stars were falling from silent heaven,
As the shining rain.

Here's again one had fallen, I guessed
To go alive from the battle...
So my life I did hastened to test,
With silly star has related.

Then I decided: the trouble has flied,
I had escaped from the destiny.
But crazy star had come down from sky,
Straintforward into heart beating.

They said:"The height has the vital need now!"
"Don't spare any of cartridge!.."
And from the sky falled the second light star
To shoulder straps of the captain.

There is a mass of the stars in the sky,
As much as fishes in ponds,
They'll be for everybody quite enough,
May be I was hero also...

I wished to give this bright star to my son
For future long lasting memory...
But in the sky there is hanging a star,
Which will then fall nowhere...
