A Poem For Sveta

Аполинария Подольская
She sometimes dances
She sometimes sings
She always takes pictures
Of the craziest things

She is the greatest girl in all the land
And wishes Corey was at her command
The oceans are wide
Some call it The Great Divide

She needs to know that every day
The thought of her is in Corey’s brain
They will see each other someway
Which will finally end the horrible pain

Until the day they once again meet
They can remember the times they shared to eat At Gramma Dot’s on Sanibel Island
Or from the grill of Someone’s hand
Froyo and Bubble Tea
In the nation’s capital of Washington, D.C.

The other times together were much more sweet
On the beach
In the water
The food cannot compete

The romantic times in the wee hours of the morning
When the rain began and the wind started blowing
The night became cold
We were desperate for heat
Our bodies became a single mold
An experience that nothing can beat

Now you are back in your Russian home
We text
We Skype
But the coyotes still moan

The coyotes know the secret
Because the air they breathe is thin
They think to each other
How can we win?
The truth lies with a difficult solution
To reunite the two
And the coyotes will breathe right again
