History lessons

Hegel said: 'The only thing we learn from history is that we learn nothing from history." I partly agree with this statement.
During the whole history of mankind people always levy wars against their brothers, people too. We always strived to the technological advancement to satisfy our needs and desires. Everybody is egoist and does not want to take lessons from what is known. For instance, political games. Syria could serve us as an example of stratagems of the US. The world understands that striking Syria is a great atrocity but nobody can do anything. We know our history and how terrible it becomes when people interfere in its course of events. We have diverse cautions of history but we do not pay attention to it as if we live on the Earth more than 100 years. It is mournful to recognize that people are capable of forgetting history for the sake of their own ambitions.
On the other hand everything is not so wretched. Many organizations are engaged in the preservation of traditions and historic identity. They distribute brochures, arrange conferences, establish different opinionated societies etc. I am firmly convinced that this kind of activity could work and be successful only if the young generations start to care for growing of patriotism. If the person realizes that history of mankind is its own then the manuals would not be rewritten and young people will never say that 'holocaust' is a holiday.
Everything depends on us. If we grasp the history and teach our children then many mistakes will never be done. This responsibility reflects our attitude, it is on us: to take lessons from our past or not.
