Back to my teenage love

Светик Петрова
Popping out from every corner searching for me,
Sparks in his innocent eyes told me to linger on,
Playful, flirty, capricious when you’re just thirteen,
Bashful to take the first step I was left on my own.

Many opportunities missed and smiles thrown in vain
Rewinding those memories back I cry and regret,
What’s left except wasted emotions, hopes and pain?
But brushing tears away I smile and cannot forget.

That blushing boyish glance and timid hug outside,
My blushing back and quickened running away,
He never knew I couldn’t sleep that starlit night,
He never knew I wished to hug back and stay.

I felt he was about to devour me with his eyes,
I lowered mine and looked at the dirty asphalt road,
What did I see there? Dance of bugs with dry flies?
Silly, I had to sing with his handsome eyes love ode.

Once our paths were crossed, they will never be so,
Drifted apart after even no warm friendly days,
We’re just casual ‘’hi’’, neither close friends no foes,
I’d give many to return to those smiles and that place.

I’d smile and never would I bashfully run from him,
Never would I say those words turning my back,
Never would I tell him that it wasn’t a childish whim
And how much I wish to return on my starting track.
