Homeless love

Альбина Кумирова

No shelter in you for my homeless love
It returns to me like Noah’s dove,
Unrequited by you, unclaimed.
It could fly above oceans’ waters for miles,
Fed on nothing more than your blissful smiles –
It desires so much to be tamed.

It returns to me from its journeys for weeks
And triumphantly shows a leaf in its beak –
A few lines – a pledge for tomorrow.
In the modern world it’s not fit to survive,
So I count my blessings that it’s still alive,
For it comforts my heart in its sorrow.
