Cold hands

Вера Мэрилу
We are cold-handed children.

we are
we are
we are

Our hands are compared to ice,
the cube ice in the fridge
and the virgin ice on Everest's top.
Our hands are compared to snow,
bright-white snow in November valleys,
gray-brown snow in March towns.

If our hands warm up,
the snow turns into water and leaks.
And we start loosing
essential parts of our being.
Please don't warm our hands.
What's meant to stay cold,
should stay cold.

And our hands are so cold
they can prevent glaciers from melting
and causing the great flood,
they can save the burning monk,
they can save the little girl.

People say those with cold hands
keep fire in their hearts.
