A new vaccine

Ксения Желева
I cat myself off from the world deliberately ,
The only life-line to my past is you.
There were no enthusiastic inquiries recently,
You told me the last time filtering through.

It took up two years to build a personal fort-
More like a cell with no entry or ceiling-
Yet on little worth was the battle fought
To protect raw stubs of my feelings.

For not only had my construction crumbled to dust-
But believe willingly took the place of despair,
When simply polite- please stay with us-
Moved my well-armoured soul to tears.

Now, instead of looking for a remedy "thick-skin"
Or borrowing a bony shell from a silly turtle,
I'll put my effort into inventing a new vaccine-
And gain a clever and unbreakable heart.
