Shocked and recuperating after the blow I just got from reading following expert from the book "Jung of Art" by Berk. I have a question at the end of this quote.
I knew that Jung agreed with Lombroso on that there exists something like a 'born criminal". Lomborso was brilliant and renowned anthropologist and psychiatrist, and a grand empirical psychologist.... bla-bla-bla - but... I had no idea that this same phenomena applied just the same to the artist. Listen to this:
Oh, and also an important point to make in here is that "Jung did not want to have anything to do with a 'floating' spirit. He would never separate psychical phenomena from their physical component.". ...
"Psychology, though formerly counted a discipline of philosophy, is today a natural science and its subject-matter is not a mental product but a natural phenomenon, i.e. the psyche. As such it is among the elelmentary manifestions of organic nature, which in turn forms one half of our world, the other half being the inorganic".
Meaning? And here Berk uncovers my old and unanswered question: what was that Jung didn't want to talk about at Tavistock's lectures when he said that humanity is not ready to know what he believes about Psyche. That the body and the spirit are simply different parts of the same phenomena!
So I don't know, maybe to you it's not a shock, but to me it is. Cause I carefully separate this two phenomena and changing that perspective would mean a huge revolution inside me. If I agree to agree.
