Учёный астроном записывал столбцы цифр-
Карты,убедительные диаграммы,и,опять вычисления.
Я сидел и слушал, а астроном говорил, говорил...
Звучали аплодисменты в зале,
Скоро ли, нет ли, я заскучал и устал,
Выскользнув на улицу я остался наедине с собой,
Волшебная ночь, влажный воздух и тишина,
То и дело я запрокидывал голову и замирал,
глядя на звёзды.
When I heard the learn'd astronomer,
When the proofs, the figures, were ranged in columns
befor me,
When I was shown the charts and diagrams, to add, divide,
and measure them,
When I sitting heard the astronomer where he lectured whith much,
applause in the lecture-room,
How soon unaccountable I become tired and sick,
Till rising and gliding out I wander'd of my myself,
In the mistical moist night-air, and from time to time,
look'd up in perfect silens at the stars.
