You Behind It

Lxe
Moss of marshland or flat stone,
Summer stranger, noon reminder,
Day as promised, dream windblown;
May you find it.

Pasture forage or star shower,
Dry, serene, sea water knee-deep,
Forest elbow-high, disaster or descent,
Rise to find it
And guide your boat to the Apple Isle.

April's bottomless allure.
Gone aground, reassure,
Spot the faraway lighthouses of May
And yourself behind them,
And yourself behind the longer longer day;
So raise your eyes
And turn your steps to Southampton.

A pilgrim's hike along a Cornwall sunburnt trail;
Meet face to face,
See eye to eye,
With face of Osiris, with an eye of Zeus,
A tongue of Zoroaster
And victory of Christ
I seek myself behind it
And I call for you.

Moss of marshland or flat stone,
Summer stranger, noon reminder,
Day as promised, dream windblown;
May you find it.
