My Day

Ðàìèðî Ëåáåäåâ-Òîëìà÷
I usually get up at seven o’clock. I make my bed, open the window and throw two or three rotten eggs at Lame John. Then I do my morning exercises in front of the open window. Lame John’s words are sweet music to me.
After that I go to the bathroom and wash my hands and face. Then I come back to my bedroom and put on my silk shirt and my cotton trousers. I also put on my socks and shoes.
Then I go to the dining-room and have my breakfast. If my father is late I have his breakfast too. For breakfast I have strong tea, bread and butter and some jam. Sometimes I have coffee with milk. (I don’t like my grandpa’s moonshine for breakfast) Usually we sit together at the table and speak about my father’s breakfast or about Lame John’s words.
When breakfast is over, I put my books and hand grenades into my schoolbag. I often take my long distance slingshot with me. I have not only friends at school. I take my red scarf and my big gun out of the wardrobe.
The wardrobe is in the corner of the bedroom. My lovely bazooka is in another corner. Lame John’s left leg is in the third corner. The fourth corner is still empty. O.K. I am ready to go. I kiss my mother and go out. My parents think that I go to school.
I cannot see Lame John near my house. Well, he is not a fool this time. Then I see my friends. They have big bags in their hands and red scarves on their faces. This morning we must visit the city bank before school. Business is business.

                My Day 2
We get to school at 9 o’clock. We are late because we were busy in the bank. Our bags are heavy, but our faces are happy. We don’t knock on the door, we just come into the classroom and sit down at our desks. As you understand, the teacher doesn’t ask us why we are late. First, as the proverb goes, «Curiosity killed the cat». And second, she already knows the reason because her husband worked at the same bank before his death.
We have English four days a week: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. At our English lessons pupils read texts, ask and answer questions and do a lot of exercises. We can also count from one up to one hundred and do sums in English. In fact we keep doing them all the time – we count the money from our bags. Everybody wants to help us, but in this we need no helpers.
I am proud to say that we get good marks in English. My bag is big and heavy – that’s why I get only excellent marks. Nick’s bag is not so big – he gets good marks, at least he doesn’t complain. Tom has no bag at all. Well, he always gets bad marks.
When school is over, we don’t go straight home. We take our bags and go to the supermarket. Only after the supermarket we go home. At home I hide the money in a special place, have my dinner and then I sleep till supper. It goes without saying that I don’t wash the plates after dinner. I have my grannie for that.
After supper I count the money again and go out. In the evenings I usually play with my friends in the dark forest or in the local cemetery. I have no doubts that my life is interesting and I hope it will be even better.
