The Man And The Lion

Владимир Петрович Янченко
He's got a business of his own
And heaps of work to carry through
To keep a faithless heart of stone
His own heart is tied up to.
No matter if true love is bigger
Than that his woman has designed;
She is a living source of vigour
And who should care that behind
Her image of a graceful lady
There only is a clever bitch
Whose games, forever light and shady,
Get over him without a hitch.
It's just her physical attraction
And everything she does in bed,
That makes him love her to distraction
While he should give her up instead.
But since it's true that love is blind,
Let men who stand unfaithful loves,
Be apt to consequently find -
There is no catch for cats in gloves,
Like there's no glory to the lion
Residing in the local zoo
Who's glad, behind the bars of iron,
Within the ground meant for two,
To have his lightsome female near him,
While those on the outside
Are glad to see him let her smear him,
As if he's got no bit of pride
She goes leftwards to the cheetah,
And to the tiger on the right;
He doesn't mind, he's like an eater
Who's sure to get the bigger bite
The autumn leaves get falling down,
The springtime flowers come in bloom,
You never see the lion frown,
You never find him in the gloom;

My friend regains his peace of mind
With every visit to the zoo:
,,If there's a beast whose love is blind,
It ain't too much she puts me through."
