I'm parting you in noise and in calm
And stalking you as if you were some game,
To see: are you my hawk I wish to claim?
To kill you now? Or kneel to pray a psalm.
Be it in faith, be it in a doubtful leap,
I seek you steadfast, yet without a goal.
You are my dream, your beauty I extol
And I don't dare to push you down from heaven in a heap.
Sometimes it seems you are here sometimes you fade;
A water path that's moving with a swish,
I saw you in the stars, among the fish,
Or like a bull that's drinking in the shade.
In your grand story I'm but a simple quiz,
To rate myself against you - I remain,
Without intent, the victory I might gain.
I want to feel you and to scream: "He is!"
