Milky Way

Алёна Вышемирская
It was a quiet November night.
The Lord  was generous to give
For plains and forests full moon light.
Each step we took chimed in my ears.

Steps drew the pattern on the hoar.
How funny!  - Might some keeper say,
In the morning light he’ll see what for
Two strangers roamed into the deep?

Oh, here they are – my father stopped;
The frost began to grow stronger.
Two good old friends: their hugs unfolded
The hearts of us to conquer.

The shy lantern and tall poplar,
They whispered stories in the wind.
Under the patchwork sky - so far
I see this picture in my dreams.

Nor words nor thoughts to share in vain
As silence keeps her grace.
It was a quiet November night,
We saw the Milky Way.
