Why did the author decide to name his book “Kadish”? This title has been taken too many times by a row of writers.
He could mention his father's death on the cover and/or the de-Judaization of the Ashkenazic haplogroup in the USA since the following is his take on the “soft killing” of consecutive waves of emigration from Europe.

And now, Leon Wieseltier arrives with much fanfare and takes the podium inside the doomed synagogue Mishkan Tefila located on the conservation land in the Garden City of Newton, Massachusetts.
''Who we are and what's our purpose?''
Thus the ruddy-faced Leon Wieseltier begins his lecture ''Pride, Ignorance and American Jewish Identity.''
Leon promises a vicious assault.
''Good news are bad and yet the bad news are terrible.''
''A friendly contest between the American Jewry and Israel.''
''After WW2 the future of Jews left Europe.''
''The fought over Jewish rights in Europe are the axiom in America. AIPAC!
The State of Israel is kind of a symbol of Jewish power.
Moreover, there is a canard in the USA that the American Jews are the 'state within a state.'
Anti-Semitism is not legitimate; however, it is impossible to erase hatred against Jews in the USA. Four (!) Jews might be sitting on the Supreme Court in Washington. (Merrick Garland, the wannabe, is a number four.)
It seems that the Holocaust cannot happen here. It is good news.
But the quality of Jewishness in North America is lousy.”
How true! Leon is exonerating himself after my displeasure with him 20 years ago in Jerusalem—he was a bleeding heart Gaza empath—and 8 years ago at Harvard where he rebuffed my argument that Islam, like Christianity, was launched by Jews, well, the crypto-Jews or Judaizers.
Then Mr. Wieseltier drops, “We're hyphenated,” meaning Jewish-Americans. Like Italian-Americans or Irish-Americans. But it's wrong! The New York Times piece on the new Superior Court Judge-to-be Merrick Garland doesn’t brand him as a Jewish-American while using the terms “African-Americans” and “Latin-Americans” in the same article.
It looks like Jews graduated not only from their non-white status before the 1930s but successfully got rid of the hyphen ~70 years later. What a ride!
Leon Wieseltier brands the American Jewry as the most ignorant one, their “transplanted culture stunted” and becomes a “commemorative culture.”
“We're the luckiest” post-Jews (no oppression) but we are “distracted and diverted.” We are “unlettered and crippled” and not spiritual in a Jewish way..
“Jew is a Jew is a Jew.”
“But by the Jewish standards what did we create?
Not much. We're shallow.”
“We cannot control our children. Linguistically, they are not Jewish.”
“If a father doesn't speak in a native tongue he buries his child. Language is our air!”
Leon uses another catchy term “comparative diasporology” (Jews in the Italian city of Modena circa 1650 were much less oppressed because Modena was outside the Papal States) and notes that the “self-erasure” is not asked from the dwindling American Jews. They are being killed softly. The thinness of Jewish culture is obvious. Klezmer, knishes, kishke...
Seinfeld? Woody Allen? Moshe Waldoks? (He is present in the audience!)
Leon uses the term “conformists” and thunders, “We are forgetting more than Jerusalem” and brands American Jews with a community-wide irresponsibility.
He turns to the decline of conservative synagogue.
This disastrous trend is characteristic of millennials who want “other Jews to pay for the boiler.”
And then he cracks not a bad joke:
“Father, you are a socialist. Why do you go to the synagogue?
—Well, Mr. Epstein speaks to G-d there.
But you don't believe in G-d.
—Ha, I can speak to Mr. Epstein.”
Jews had a genius for institution building but now it is not like before. A melamed was a revered person.
We need a free Jewish education."
Still, Leon says to his kids, “Hey, a little goyishness won't kill you...”
BDS is rife on campuses. Jewish resistance is crumbling. Young Jews prefer to escape or join the ranks against the Zionist Israel.
And Bernie Sanders pronounces, “I am a son of Polish immigrants...” Leon mentions that he usually doesn't speak to his TV set but he jumped up and exclaimed, “No, you are not!”
And I add (tongue-in-cheek) that the last name “Sanders” is a very common name among Poles. You come to a Polish village or town and they are full of the Sanders families.
Many Jews decided that it is a mitzvah to castigate the State of Israel.
He recalls wistfully how in 1939 the Jewish activists fought both the British White Paper for Palestine and Hitler.
"The New York Review of Books doesn't utter any good words about Israel. The editors would praise cancer if it is against Israel."
Mr. Wieseltier is asked to comment on the AIPAC standing ovation for Mr. Trump. To my amazement, he unleashed a negative salvo against the Donald. I approach Leon and admonish him, “The American elite have already appointed Mrs. Clinton as a next president.* We don't need to attack Trump here. He is a loser in present and future.” Yet Leon uses the term “dreaded Hillary.”
Indeed, she could start a war in Europe or bark at the fortress Israel surviving with a fifth column inside and the four columns advancing from the Persian east, the Turkish north, the Arab west and the Indonesian south.
