Messed up

Àëüáèíà Êóìèðîâà
We’ve messed it up! We must admit it!
Since Adam’s fall, we are the same,
and our lives, by comfort sweetened,
are bringing deep within a shame.

We’ve messed it up – commitments, duties,
and our hopes, not fulfilled.
Our losses are, in fear rooted,
with disappointments instilled.

In sorrows we brew resentment,
in pain we resort to blame,
and jealousy robs of contentment,-
since Adam’s fall we are the same.

We patch it up with words and smiles,
with some good deeds to make us feel
acceptable, with good profiles,
but inner self, we can conceal.

We boast of our successes
and cover up unpleasant deeds,
the heart’s spiritual abscesses,
and evil thoughts' and feelings' seeds.

We never get heights of potential,
fixed on survival or a gain,
we lofty goals existential
swap for a telly or a game.

We feel malfunctioned or rejected,
unable changing life’s course,
because, from Heaven disconnected,
we have from birth on us a curse.

The tank of love in us is leaking.
We are spiritually ill
and so prideful, not seeking
the love of Jesus to refill.

The cracks of souls, we can plaster,
ignoring eyes of the King.
We have no time for the Master,
to whom we owe everything.

Belief, incurable as cancer,
that we for God are good enough.
The day will come to give an answer
to Him, with whom we couldn’t bluff.

But nothing’s lost: today’s the time
to tell your Father all your wrongs,
your every big or petty crime.
Your soul to Him alone belongs!

Let all your problems be His business.
To miss this chance, you can’t afford!
Trust in His mercy and forgiveness
and be eternally restored!

"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23

But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. Isaiah 64:6

As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. Romans 3:10-11
