Forget about glory for yourself,
for vanity is evil at its core:
by trying to impress we strive to sell
our image, but the same does a whore.
Endeavouring the great heyday to reach,
one can be driven then to envy some
with restless thoughts. Your feelings might itch:
elusive recognition doesn’t come!
Let stardom pass around me by miles,-
it’s in the hands of God – all human fame.
Occasionally limelight shines:
sometimes one can meet his due acclaim.
But this should not become the life’s goal.
God’s seeking those who are meek and lowly.
He is more pleased with humbleness of soul.
Give glory to the Lord Creator only.
He will exalt, if He will deem it right,
and if He does, then keep your heart unstained:
our pride is repulsive in God’s sight,
as it’s with Satan’s arrogance ingrained.
Work on your soul and on every word
and judge severely your work and all your ways
by giving an account to the Lord,
then you’ll accept with dignity all praise.
