I am a cat

Âëàä Ñâåòëûé
(poems for children)

I am a cat. I’m always here.
Sparkles are dancing in my eyes.
Defending home, I have no fear.
I fight big rats and scare all mice.

As soon as night comes down from heaven,
I’m ready to inspect the dark,
Each hidden place on every level,
Searching a little stealthy mark.

My ears are sensitive locators,
Catching each rustle all around.
My whiskers, just like navigators,
Show me directions on the ground.

My paws are very smooth and quiet,
So one can’t even hear my walk.
My claws keep dangerously tight
What ever, with a murmuring talk.

I’m a cat! A smartest predator.
I do myself walking alone.
When I’m fed up, sooner or later,
I just become a lazy bone.
