This World of Ours

Âàëåðèé Äîðîäíèöûí
                Chorus:

         This is a many-faced world
         whose clouds are all curled,
         whose people are you
         (whose virtues are few),
         whose flowers are bright,
         whose governments fight,
         whose ladies are fair,
         if ladies are there.

Sometimes you wonder, whether it’s worth
the trouble being born to this earth,
and realize while wondering so –
you simply don’t know.

Then, if you are all fit and sound,
you feel that something should be found,
and you walk your way that shows you around.

                Chorus.

There were some folks who would never rest
before they went and conquered the West,
some others launched a brilliant probe
and rounded the globe.

Some never sailed the seven seas,
they've learned just how to grab and seize,
so they go and live in comfort and ease.

                Chorus.

Don’t be upset, if you don’t get much,
remember King Midas and his touch!
Perhaps the reminiscence of it
will help you a bit.

Now listen, friends, I’ll tell you what,
you all deserve just what you’ve got –
it’s your life to live, and that’s quite a lot.
