Autumn Time

I was listening to the iconic Gershwin’s “Summer Time” and kept wondering what would George and DuBose Heyward, the author of the novel “Porgy” (1925) and the lyrics to this everlasting song, co-credited to Ira Gershwin, say today to the people, trapped in their homes for months on end. As the current “Stay at home” comes hand in hand with late autumn, I figured out that their song of consolation would be about autumn joys. This is one of them:

Autumn Time

Autumn time - drinking is easy:
Self-isolation, tension is high.
Stay at home out of misery –
So, hush, you, old fella, don’t you cry!
