Kindred Spirit

Ìèëà Ïîëÿíñêàÿ
My kindred spirit, soulmate and lover,
I came up with a plan of escapism.
I ran away from me, my angst and trouble,
I ran away from you, — It seemed to me...

A lifetime goes by fast —
We ain’t ready
To solve a lot of complicated stuff.
You’re diving into harmful ugly habits —
I’m praying for your eyes to see the light.

You see me, sleeping, when the dark night covers
The city, full of lonely broken hearts,
Meanwhile, I am daydreaming ‘bout moments
Of hugging you one day when you ain’t nuts.

I wasn’t first. Unfortunately, not only.
Despite the fact I lodged in your dark soul.
I was your light in the labyrinth of conflicts —
Your inner conflicts, you could not resolve.

You’ve got an intricate life, scars over the chest,
The way you talk to the world is your protest.
I would embrace you, dear, soothing pain,
You hurt me day by day, over again.

No matter how soon you will choose to change
Left-handed wives, room-mates, ladies of pleasure,
My whisper in your head will muffle them,—
You will recall who is your real treasure.

I was with you in sorrow and at leisure.
But I escaped, because that was a measure.
I wish I could be near you all life,
But I wasn’t prepared for the knife.

A lifetime goes by fast —
We ain’t ready
To solve a lot of complicated stuff.
You’re diving into harmful ugly habits —
I’m praying for your eyes to see the light.
