A soldier s son

Àëåêñàíäð Íîÿáðüñêèõ
When I was a baby my father would tell me
Tales about pirates and gold
When I was a young boy my father would tell me
He will return when I’m old

My father, he left me, he never had told me
What am I here for
My father betrayed me but proud he made me
He never came back from war

I’ve dreamed about being a sailor
The life never got me so down
I’ve ended up fighting the same war
My father protected me from

And I am a soldier I’ll never be older
My children’s forgotten my face
And I am a sniper my rifle’s a viper
I come and I leave without trace

I will be a hero, my kids will be freer
Than I have ever been
They’re my mirror Their future is clearer
And I will fight on for my kin

I’ve dreamed about sailing the ocean
My dreams aren’t meant to come true
My son when you will be an old man
Your mom‘ll show this letter to you

I will not be buried in graveyard
The cross won’t stand over my head
At least as I dream since I am young
Remembered I’ll be in the end

No flowers’ll be laid and no song sung
But peaceful I’ll lay in the sand
Ant the war never comes to son’s son
And remembered I’ll be in the end

Remembered I’ll be in the end.
Remembered I’ll be in the end.
