but no one asked him what happened

giving him his sympathetic ear.

where the people are the beasts,
for the victims they seek, catch up
and rip,
and a neighbor his neighbor eats.

I’ve gotta get a warning massage
to you -
beware of the beasts around.
This is the world we’re going
through,
this is the jungle’s world
we’ve found.
