Night is anything but time

Илья Брянский
Night's anything, but time,
the first, you ought to be in chime.
Day yet to be the mine,
Wherein you're aye to be in line.

If you're a noble knight, well-nigh birthright,
At day you'd better set your lamp alight.
Night's way to go, the time you nay to lie,
Therewith you come and go like tide.

Night's your only friend,
You've got no other left.
Day is a common share...
Isn't it the one of mare?

Night isn't half, nor is it a part of whole,
Yet not a mall you won't be taking stroll.
It's better luck to be with day somehow apart,
Only the latter one is bona fide life's counterpart.
