inexorable tide

Катарина Кукушкина
the tar of your gaze has me imprisoned,
as it seeps deeper through tissue and bone.
flay my senses and tangle my reasons,
as you mould my soul on this bed of thorns.

i am a birch, brought down by a lightning,
irreversibly pierced with a single white stroke.
as your heat cracks the glass behind my eyelids,
i will be crying and exhaling your smoke.
